How NASA Is Applying MBX to Better Their Agency’s Facilities Management

MBX
GTC Analytics is utilizing MBSE techniques and the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), specifically designed to model systems-of-systems, to help enhance NASA’s facilities and facility management.

How It Works

NASA is an organization with over 5000 buildings, many of which are over 40 years old. As their infrastructure ages, important decisions must be made about the future of their facilities. GTC’s enterprise digital twin is helping all levels of stakeholders at NASA to make better, more data-informed decisions around their facilities, assets, and operations.

GTC’s enterprise model collects decentralized information across the agency and compiles it into a single, easily understandable dashboard able to present information at whatever lay of granularity is applicable to a given stakeholder. By establishing connections between buildings, laboratories, lab capabilities, floorspace, and equipment utilization, we aim to assist NASA in aligning these resources with their missions and timelines. This will enable the agency to easily identify the available labs, their capabilities, and the missions utilizing these spaces, ultimately leading to improved planning and decision-making processes.
